Tate Liverpool is one of the largest galleries of modern and contemporary art outside London and is housed in beautiful converted warehouse in the historic Albert Dock. Part of a family of galleries that include Tate Britain and Tate Modern in London and Tate St Ives in Cornwall, Tate Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art in the North. Tate Liverpool displays work selected from the Tate Collection and special exhibitions which bring together artwork loaned from around the world. The displays and exhibitions show modern and contemporary art from 1900 to the present day which includes photography, printmaking, video, performance and installation as well as painting and sculpture.
There are a wide range of events and family activities which include free introductory tours, exhibition talks and lectures as well as free family events which take place every Sunday afternoon. Tate Shop and Tate Cafe are open during gallery hours.
All floors are accessible by wheelchair and wheelchairs are available on request. Large print, audio and Braille leaflets are also available.
Directions: Road Directions By car: follow the brown signs to Albert Dock from the M62 motorway. Ample parking is available at King's Dock, 5 minutes walk from the Gallery
Public Transport Directions By bus: bus 222 and Smartbuses 1 and 4 stop near the Gallery.
On foot: The Gallery is within walking distance from Liverpool Lime Street railway station, and the route for pedestrians is well signed from the city centre.
